Each year Lehigh Valley SportsFest (LVSF) gets bigger and better . . . this means our expenses also grow.
We have grown from 16 sporting events in 1997 to over 50 events in 2012. We have more than 10,000 athletes participating in their respective sporting events, and more than 150,000 spectators enjoy all that LVSF has to offer. LVSF is held over a period of four days throughout the City of Allentown and over fields and other venues within the Lehigh Valley.
LVSF not only provides local athletes the opportunity to compete but provides a revenue stream for local businesses in the Lehigh Valley throughout the days of competition. LVSF invites athletes from the Lehigh Valley community but also from western Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and surrounding states. All events have diverse participants and by providing the venue, exposure, support and equipment, many of the athletes would not necessarily have the opportunity to compete in a high level atmosphere.
LVSF provides benefits to sponsors and the community…
- To provide good, clean, family recreation for participants, organizers and guests alike
- To encourage participation of inner city high schools through their volunteer efforts, and LVSF rewards them accordingly. Specific examples are the involvement of the Dieruff and William Allen High Schools' ROTC, and cheerleaders.
- To enhance the amenities available to the citizens of Allentown and Lehigh County. Proceeds are used to upgrade various City Recreation Department functions and facilities that are used by organizations throughout the Lehigh Valley.
LVSF is widely recognized in and beyond our greater Lehigh Valley community for the enduring quality of our events as well as for the exposure we provide for our sponsors. LVSF has always been financially self-supporting. This is due primarily to the generosity of our sponsors. We continue to find new ways to give them exposure.
